Change Everything Community Flotilla and Rally for Climate Justice

Change Everything Community Flotilla and Rally for Climate Justice

Oil Free Wellington invites you to Change Everything – A Community Flotilla and Rally for Climate Justice.
Deep sea oil companies are coming to Aotearoa’s waters this Summer. Let’s show them the resistance they should expect on our shores!
And on the weekend that the Paris climate talks end, let’s show the world we’ll keep working for real solutions to climate change regardless of what is agreed to in Paris.
Join us for a community flotilla and practice blockade for resistance to fossil fuels this Summer.
Bring your kayak, boat or surfboard and be on the water near the Frank Kitts Lagoon by 11.30am
Don’t have a boat? We still need you there! Meet near Frank Kitts Park at midday
Join us for a family friendly day on or by the water – live music, food and fun!

There are heaps of ways to be part of the action:

Want to bring your own vessel?

If you’d like to bring your own vessel please get in touch with us at oilfreewellington@gmail.com and let us we know what kind of vessel you’ll be bringing. This is important as we’ll also use this email address to contact you if there are any updates or weather cancellations.
All vessels should be in the harbour in front of Frank Kitts park (see map below) by 11.30am. We’ll be wrapped up by 12.45pm.

Bringing a non-motorised vessel – kayaks, paddleboards etc

Non-motorised vessels can be launched from Oriental Bay and Chaffers Marina beach (see map below). We recommend launching by 11am.

Bringing a motorised vessel – inflatables, yachts etc

We suggest launching these from Evans Bay. Please be aware that there will be a large number of non-motorised vessels taking part in this action (see map below).

Want to use one of the kayaks or paddleboards we’re hiring?

You will need to register for one of the 100 kayaks and paddleboards we have available for the public- http://tinyurl.com/hj3c378
If you’ve registered for a kayak or paddleboard you’ll need to arrive at Fergs on the waterfront between 10am – 10.30am so that you can be fitted with a lifejacket and get a safety briefing. If you have not arrived by 10.30am we’ll be giving your vessel to someone who missed out. Everyone will be on the by 11.30am.

Want to be part of the on land action?

There will be a family-friendly on land rally near Frank Kitts from 12pm. Join us for food, music and speakers!
